    Question: “Each resistor in the circuit below has a resistance of 2 ohms. The battery is a 12 V battery. What is the current across resistor B?”

    The answer explanation says that you have to first calculate the effective resistance of resistors in parallel (resistors A and B) and then find the overall effective resistance. Why is that? What happens if you calculate the effective resistance of resistors in series (resistors B and C) first, and why would it be wrong?
